Q) How will massage therapy benefit me?
A) Massage therapy offers numerous benefits, including reduced muscle tension, improved circulation, pain relief, enhanced flexibility, stress reduction, improved mood, and better sleep quality.
Regular sessions can also boost immune function and enhance overall well-being.
Q) How often should I get a massage?
A) How often you should get a massage depends on your individual needs and goals. For general wellness and relaxation, many people benefit from a monthly massage to maintain their overall health and reduce stress.
If you’re dealing with chronic pain, recovering from an injury, or managing a specific condition, you might consider weekly or bi-weekly sessions for more consistent relief.
Those with high-stress levels or physically demanding lifestyles may also benefit from more frequent massages. Ultimately, it’s best to consult with a licensed massage therapist who can recommend the ideal schedule based on your personal circumstances.
Q) How long does a massage last?
A) We offer sessions of 30, 60, and 90 minutes. We can go up to 120 minutes for some massage modalities as well. Check our pricing and packages to learn more.
Q) I’ve never had a massage before, what’s the best way to get started?
A) The best way to get started is to give us a call so we can help guide you in the direction of the therapist that is best suited for you.
Q) Is massage therapy safe for everyone?
A) Massage therapy is indeed safe for most and has tremendous health benefits. However, it can be unsafe for individuals with certain health concerns. We encourage our clients to consult their doctors to be sure.
We also take care to gather information with our intake forms to be sure that you would be ok for massage.
Q) When should I avoid massage?
A) Massage therapy provides many benefits, but there are times when it should be avoided. If you have a fever, an infectious illness, or contagious skin conditions, it’s best to postpone your session to avoid spreading the condition or exacerbating symptoms.
Massage should also be avoided over recent injuries, surgical sites, or areas affected by deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Individuals with certain cardiovascular conditions, like uncontrolled high blood pressure or recent heart attacks, should consult a healthcare provider before scheduling a session.
We have intake forms to help you make sure you’re safe to get a massage.
Q) Can I exercise after a massage?
A) It’s advisable to avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours after a massage to allow your body to fully benefit from the session. Light activities like gentle stretching or walking are generally acceptable. Always listen to your body and consult your therapist for personalized guidance.
Q) What massage techniques have you studied?
A) The professional techniques provided by each massage therapist may vary. Everyone has a slightly different background and educational preference. If you are interested in a specific modality, it is best to give us a call/text to see which therapist may best suit you. Additionally, on the “Meet the Team” page on our website, each therapist has a list of modality proficiencies, which may be helpful in deciding.
Q) What’s the difference between Swedish Massage and Customized Therapeutic Massage?
A) Swedish Massage is aimed at increasing blood circulation through long broad strokes and is not aimed at releasing specific muscles/muscle groups. It is meant to relax the body and is generally light to medium pressure.
A customized therapeutic session is fully customizable to target a specific ache/pain/tension/etc. If you suffer from something like low back pain, scheduling a customized therapeutic session allows the therapist to work on specific muscles with clinical modalities like Trigger Point Release, Myofascial, Deep Tissue, Cupping, etc.
Some of the two most common massage modalities selected are Swedish Massage and Deep Tissue Massage. There is significant differences between the two and it’s good to know the differences and how each modality can help. Learning more about Swedish Massage vs. Deep Tissue Massage will help you know what’s best for you when deciding on Swedish or a customized therapeutic like Deep Tissue Massage.
Q) Is Massage Therapy painful?
A) Massage therapy is generally not painful. While certain techniques may cause mild discomfort as they target deeper muscle layers, this should always be within your comfort threshold.
Our therapists are very good at communicating with you to ensure the pressure applied is appropriate for you.
Q) What clothing should I wear?
A) Loose, comfortable clothing is best for your massage appointment. During the session, you need only undress to your comfort level. We will ensure your privacy and will never un-drape an area of the body that is not being worked on.
Q) Do I have to remove clothing for a massage?
A) Not at all. Anyone who chooses to, can undress to their comfort level. Some garments can get in the way, but do not prevent you from having a great massage; it’s all personal preference. Your comfort and privacy are always prioritized at Healing Massage.
Q) Can I request a silent massage?
A) Yes, this is no problem at all. We may ask questions to gauge your comfort level and preferences, but if you don’t prefer conversation, we understand.
Q) Should I talk during the massage?
A) This is entirely up to you! We can accommodate a good conversation or provide peaceful silence. We do want you to let us know about your preferences and comfort level.
Q) What if I fall asleep during my massage?
A) It’s perfectly acceptable to fall asleep during a massage. It can often signify deep relaxation and comfort. However, staying awake can help you provide feedback to your therapist, ensuring your specific needs are addressed. Either way, it’s just fine.

A) We have several, easy ways to book a massage. Call or send a text to: (623) 755-0687, or you can go to our booking page on MangoMint Here.
